COMPLICATIONS

One of people's biggest complaints is that their life is complicated. To some degree I think this is true, but another side of me wants to berate them for not just sucking it up and dealing with it. Especially since people tend to complicate things themselves. If the obvious answer to a dilemma is unappealing because it requires willpower or moral fiber or whatever, people complicate things with extraneous data that sounds important for the sole purpose of obfuscating the issue until a more desired solution is found. In some cases the complicating is done merely for the purpose of putting the problem in stasis, so it never has to be dealt with.

This new method of problem evasion is esp. effective because it also allows the person to obtain sympathy from other people because their problems are so complex and hard to deal with. Ultimately, I think our problems are hardest to deal with not because they are complicated, but simply because the right choice is often hard to make or we simply lack the patience or good sense to wait for things to happen or stop worrying about things incessantly

I don't think people should be looked down upon because their problems are hard to deal with, on the contrary I think they deserve compassion. But at the same time, they shouldn't build things up to be more than they are. Problems are simply what they are and should be dealt with, the more people who know about them and can help you the better, but trying to obtain pity won't ever solve anything, and will probably just make things worse.
